Remember last year??
Hrithik Roshan was awarded the best actor award for Dhoom 2. (Probably, the most shameful verdict in the history of Filmfare)
Whatever!!
The emotions raised even by RDB and Lage Raho had died down by the end of the year and the movie which came last won it all.
Ok...Everyone has watched TZP and has passed the verdict that Darsheel should get all the awards. Everybody feels that he was awesome which honestly, I do as well. He is brilliant.
But, I have read a million posts which have actually started villainizing SRK just because he is one of the frontrunners to win the award. There are articles which use the words 'safer route'(for the award orgenisers) if SRK wins the award for CDI.
I saw CDI recently yesterday and even after watching it for the 4th time, I was moved by all the emotions the movie attempted to portray. SRK looks great everytime and never so you get bored even though you've seen it all before. I somehow doubt you could watch TZP more than maybe twice or thrice.
And though Darsheel was awesome, watching CDI again made me feel that SRK should win it coz of the sheer effortlessness with which he essays his role.
So, those of you out there....please don't get carried away with the TZP craze just bcoz the CHAK DE craze has died down. IF at all, make a judgement only after you've seen CDI(and some other movies) again to make it fair.
And remember that Darsheel has the advantage of being loved more since he is a kid.
If at all, make a decision only if you feel that he was better(As it is, Aamir taught him xactly how to do every scene).
It was a bit unfair last year to RDB and LAGE RAHO and story may repeat itself this year with SRK and AKSHAYE (for Gandhi My Father) being on the losing end.
In any case, I strongly feel that Darsheel and not Aamir should be nominated. It will be a complete tragedy it Darsheel is left out and guessing by Aamir's stand, he would support this viewpoint as well.

Why remakes of successful movies?
Burnt children dread fire but it seems that burnt film-makers don't. If we look back at the remakes in recent years, we find that people have a tendency to remake films which were successful previously. It is obviously driven by the fact that they are in awe of the movies they liked at that point of time. But it also seems to have a lot to do with the fact that the 'junta' is curious about the oldies as well.
But, honestly, with the exception of 'Don' and 'Devdas', every other such venture tanked. (And 'Don', too, was slapped by the critics for SRK' acting....though I believe it was more to do with how these guys perceived the new-age Don....not 'cool' but one who is, in a way, a spoilt brat besides being a thorough pro at what he's doing).
Honestly, there are tons of movies which had brilliant storylines but which bombed at the box office because of substandard execution or publicity. It would be only justice to help them see the light of day once more. A movie (though not that old actually), that qualifies the aforementioned condition is Nayak which, honestly, was a good story treated horribly.(There are many others when I started with this post but, I guess, after 3 months, I don't remember many of the names)
I wish the movie-makers give this idea a chance because it is something that should come just naturally rather than something these guys avoid.

oso isnt the worst movie ever.....
For the sake of some of my friends, who are dead-against the movie, I will start with the negative points (but then don't blame me for ending on a positive note).
For starters, the part which disappointed me the most was Akshay Kumar's scene(which others said was the best part of the movie). The whole scene was lifted from a video (and honestly, the video was better). Then, the editting, especially in the 2nd half, is probably the worst ever for a big-budget movie in recent times. There are parts where you can notice cuts even in the dance-sequences in songs.
The screenplay, especially in the 2nd half, is pretty shoddy. Farah seems to get confused at times, whether she is actually making a spoof or a movie. More time is allocated to the 'fun' part than the actual story which seems to be hurried consequently. On the whole, it is the 2nd half which disappoints on some fronts.
Now for the positive side....
In general, aiming to make a certain kind of movie and actually making it according to your plans are completely different things. Some films raise expectations of being technically good but end up being completely confused ventures (remember DHOOM 2 which even disappointed in its action sequences-honestly, Sanjay Gadhvi had no idea what he was making).
This is exactly what works for OSO. It wasn't supposed to be a path-breaking cinema and it sure wasn't. Farah seemed to be completely clear that she was making (it is a different thing though that she seems to have got carried away). She wanted a fun and a leave-your-brains-at-home kinda movie and thats what she's managed.
After having absolutely no expectations(courtesy the views of some friends of mine), the 1st half was a pleasant surprise. It had its moments. The scene where Deepika is introduced in the movie is sweet and is backed up by awesome background support.Certain lines "Tum bore toh nahi ho rahi?" and the scene where Om thinks of what to say while receiving an award linger in the mind for some time.
SRK and Shreyas, both are pretty good in the comedy scenes with the 'Yanna-Rascala' scene being the high point (it is really good).
The scene where Om and Shanti die and the last scene of the movie are pretty good on special effects. The scenes have been shot pretty realistically and are impressive by Indian standards.
There are some logical inconsistencies too but I had expected many more, so no issues there. One of my friends called OSO a '3-hour joke' (I call him Nirma). That in a way, is a compliment coz the movie does raise laughs and the makers succeed in what they set out to achieve and that is to make a movie which appeals to the masses. Though the timing is a bit debatable as it comes after 'Chak De India' which was a perfect contrast to this movie.
The film is surely worth a watch but only if somebody goes without much expectations since the film is not one which Farah and SRK mean the viewers to take seriously. And yes, the film is the not best ever and won't count as one of SRK's better movies but it surely isn't as bad as some people(the 'niche audience') think it is.
